Copyright Free Music

Copyright Free Music is music which the purchaser can utilise in television, radio, corporate films, training films, commercial films, point of sale films, amateur films, photographic presentations, message on hold, multimedia presentations, media courses, computer software, in fact most media applications. For a "one off fee" (the price of the CD or track), you need not have to worry about paying extra royalties or commission fees.

We grant you synchronization rights and permission to use the music as part of your production. As a producer you only pay for the price of the CD or track and then you have no more fees to consider. This situation saves you time, as you no longer have to locate the copyright owners and clear the music, or fill out complicated licence forms. It also means, you can save a fortune in royalties as you can keep using the music as many times as you like.

Stipulations

Our Copyright Free Music is only available for use by the original purchaser with other media and cannot be copied or re-sold.

What about Broadcasting?

In this situation all you need to do is complete broadcast cue sheets as normal, telling the broadcaster the copyright / royalty free music track titles and composer's name(s) etc. This will enable the broadcasters to tell the relevant performance rights societies, so that performance royalties can be distributed as usual. This is the broadcasters responsibility. This still means that, as the producer, it still costs you nothing more. If your production is not a film, TV or radio broadcast, you do not need to fill in a cue sheet. There is nothing more to pay.

The Composers of the music are still entitled to a performance fee from radio stations, television stations, etc. for the right to publicly perform their songs as synchronized in a film, television production, advertisement or other medium. Licensees must therefore prepare an accurate cue sheet of all royalty free music used in a production to assist in the collection of these performance fees by the composer's designated performing rights society. All our compositions are registered with the MCPS / PRS Alliance.

Licensees should contact their local performing rights society regarding cue sheet reporting requirements such as PRS (UK), BMI (USA), ASCAP (USA), SACEM (France), GEMA (Germany) and JASRAC (Japan) for example.

Copyright Free Music CD Categories

01. GENERAL MUSIC. General theme style music. Music that has no specific category. Music for documentaries, 'descriptive' music, suitable for various sporting activities.

02. MYSTERY & SUSPENSE. Music for thrillers, suspense features, spooky, supernatural, eerie and paranormal. Music with tension built in. Suitable for 'adventure' games.

03. ROCK MUSIC. From heavy rock through to techno rock, suitable for action and adventure scenes, various sporting activities, bikers, cars and the like. Could also be used for certain race style computer game music.

04. ROMANTIC & MELANCHOLIC. Soft gentle style of music to create romantic, sad reflective and melancholy moods.

05. NEWS & BEDS. Music suitable as talk over beds for news items. Links between current affair style items. Fairly generic in style. This selection may also include short 'links' and 'stings' in a similar style.

06. PARTY, DANCING & CHILDREN. Variety of music that can create party moods from disco to folk dancing. Suitable for programmes aimed at children, all styles all tempos.

07.WORLD MUSIC. Music that could be associated with styles from all around the world. Eastern Asian, African, South American, European etc.

08. SCIENCE FICTION FUTURISTIC. Music that would be suitable for use in science fiction or science fantasy features. Including a variety of sound effects and rhythms.

09. CLASSICAL ALTERNATIVE. These will include well known classical pieces, but with an alternative approach.

10. SEASONAL & TRADITIONAL. Music associated with traditional events such as Christmas, birthdays etc.

11. VARIETY ON A THEME. These are sections of the same melody or tune but done in different styles, instruments and tempos, to create some form of continuity within any project.

Should you like one or more of the tracks from our selection of CDs but they are too fast, too slow, or you want them to have less rhythm, more rhythm, less musical instrumentation, more musical instrumentation or maybe you need a shorter section with a definite start and finish (e.g. stings and links) then please contact us for more details as we can do remixes or re-arrangements of certain tracks more to your specifications at a fraction of the cost of an original composition.

No music can be strictly copyright-free. The copyright on all of our compositions and recordings is held by us.

Where the material is out of copyright, for example classical music and public domain, then we hold the full mechanical copyright on these recordings.

When supplying music for multimedia uses we provide a 'Licence For Unrestricted Use' which allows the purchaser unlimited use of the music in multimedia applications, specifically in combination with other media. For example the music can be mixed with video, computer programs, background music to public events such as exhibitions and slide shows, or even other audio. In other words the person invoiced is the only person having the right to duplicate the material.

The copying of our recordings which are not mixed with other material for sale such as audio CDs, CD ROMS, tapes, records, or any other type of audio only recording or for un-mixed broadcast is specifically excluded.

Retention of your invoice is sufficient evidence of your right to duplicate.
